Khajjapanaka Jātaka
The Firefly
as told by Eric Van Horn

This is another Jātaka that defies somewhat the need for existence. But… I’m just the scribe.
According to the Pāli dictionary, the correct word for firefly is “khajjopanaka.” Spelling in Pāli—as with many Asian languages—tends to be pretty loose.
This question about a firefly will be set forth in full in the Mahāummagga Jataka (Jātaka 546, Mahā-Ummagga Jātaka, The Great Tunnel).
